Bible Verses About Relationships

Scripture Collections: Relationships

For Friendship, Marriage, and More

Relationships are one of the greatest gifts God gives us, but they can also be one of our greatest challenges. Whether it’s family, friendships, dating, marriage, neighbors, or coworkers, relationships shape who we become. They stretch our patience, reveal our character, and become the instrument God uses to illustrate how to love like Him.

Sometimes relationships feel effortless and life-giving. Other times they feel confusing, disappointing, or painful. The Bible acknowledges this and doesn’t shy away from reality.

If you’re navigating relationship questions,  whether you’re seeking wisdom, healing, or clarity, God’s Word has a lot to say. Below are key Bible verses about relationships.

What the Bible Teaches About Relationships

The Bible shows us that relationships matter to God because people matter to God.

We are all wired for connection, not isolation. If you open your Bible to the very first chapter, the first thing God declared “not good” in Scripture was “that man should be alone” (Genesis 2:18). God knew our desire for connection because He created it!

There is no better place to turn than the Bible to understand how to build relationships that honor God and grow stronger over time.

Let’s dig into God’s word and find key verses that represent different relationship dynamics.

Bible Verses About Love

“Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” – John 13:34 (NIV)

“Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.” – 1 Peter 4:8 (ESV)

Bible Verses About Friendship

“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” – Proverbs 17:17 (KJV)

“Two are better than one… If either of them falls, one can help the other up.” – Ecclesiastes 4:9–10 (CSB)

Bible Verses to Empower Your Spirit

Below are 8 Bible verses chosen to strengthen, equip, and empower your spirit.

1.  For Strength and Endurance

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” – Philippians 4:13 (NKJV)

This verse reminds us empowerment is not about personal ability, but partnership with Christ.

2.  For Courage When You Feel Afraid

“Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”- Joshua 1:9 (ESV)

We must remember that courage grows when you remember you’re not alone. God has us in the palm of His mighty hand.

3.  For Confidence in Your Calling in Life

“The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me.” – Psalm 138:8 (CSB)

God doesn’t abandon the purposes He begins. He always completes the good work He starts in each one of us.

4.  For Wisdom When Decisions Feel Weighty

“If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God… and it will be given to him.” –  James 1:5 (NASB)

Empowerment includes access to God’s wisdom. We can come to God at any time and ask Him for exactly what we need at that very moment.

5.  For Spiritual Power

“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you.” – Acts 1:8 (NIV)

The Holy Spirit is the Christian’s source of power, courage, and clarity.

6.  For Strength in Times of Weakness

“My grace is all you need, for my power works best in weakness.” –  2 Corinthians 12:9 (NLT)

When self-reliance ends, that’s where God’s empowerment can begin.

7.  For Authority Over Temptation

“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” – James 4:7 (KJV)

If we fully surrender to God, authority and empowerment grow. The Devil does not have the final say over our lives when we are putting God at the center.

8.  For Peace

“The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace.”-  Psalm 29:11 (AMP)

Empowerment doesn’t mean ignoring pressure. Instead, God can bring peace into it if only we’d ask Him to.

A Prayer for Empowerment

“God,
Thank you for today. I come before you humbly wanting to thank you for all you’ve given me and blessed me with. Today, I ask for Your strength. Empower me by Your Spirit, not by my own limited strength. I don’t want to rely on my flesh to get me to where I need to be. Instead, I want to rely on You alone. Give me courage where I am afraid, wisdom where I am unsure, and peace where I feel pressure. Fulfill Your purpose in me and through me, God. Teach me to lean on You, surrender control of my life, and walk in the authority You’ve given me.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.”
